Home & Family - Your child thinks he's an ATM?

I think one of the greatest sins of modern society that people hardly touch the money. Using credit and debit cards, checks, pay bills electronically and send gift cards - but rarely touch or the use of cash.

My memory of a cashier in a department store and goes beyond the object that I wanted to buy with money together to cover the cost thereof on the counter. Young people have told me that I use a credit card because I do not know how it was received in casha transaction.

Another time I made a $ 6.57 for a drive through and was U.S. $ 7.07 at the window with the intention that I will receive a limited number of coins as change. The cashier saw the money in hand and counted again and again with a puzzled expression on his face. Finally, he gave my 7 cents and said: "You too." I have tried to explain.

A few weeks ago my eleven year old grandson and I am always willing to go to the Stampede. We stopped at aBank and he asked me: "What is brown?" Apparently he had never seen a bill $ 100.00.

I look at young people at ATMs. Add their debit cards and then wait with a look of expectation on their faces - as if they were in front of a slot machine casino. If your card is rejected - without a win - they go with a dejected look on their faces. I can not understand why you do not win!

The sad part is that some children treat their parents as they areATMs. They think all you have to do what they say is the parent what they want and parents will spit out the necessary funds to meet their needs.

Life is not like your job, but how children should know, if we teach them a different way?

Your child allowance or earn money for the budget - paying in cash. We begin to strum the thrill coins and quickly discover that once released, the white bagempty.

for help with play money, to learn the child, the actual cost of contributions. Count a specific and realistic amount of money and then help the child to determine how the money spent to meet the needs of the family, perhaps. Soon begin to understand that limited resources means that choices must be made.

And you try a good example by money instead of debit and credit. Both you and your child will soon realize that means an empty wallet, it's time to stop spending.(Well, hopefully we can see that it is completely empty figure above).

Children do not need a debit card. Located in effect, makes it easy between them and the reality of limited resources. Adults do not need any debit or credit cards. They attract people, especially in financial difficulty.

And children do not have the idea that their parents have ATMs. It 'good to say: "We can not afford or do not need this." It 'also acceptable to say that the child for a searchwork or do household chores to earn money. My youngest son was delivering newspapers when he was only six years.

Are quite often by parents who populate the account or pay huge phone bills by adolescents, adolescents do not work more surprised. Most of us do not focus on work, though we knew we had all the money we needed and wanted! No job - no phone! No job - no money! Soon it will understand!

And 'now that we got fromunreal world, plastic and virtual finance creates in our mind. With notes and coins to teach children how to deal responsibly to make money. And not just children. Getting back in touch with "The Real Thing", an idea that would not be hurt or adults!
