Child's Play - The Magical Education in Make Believe

In order to learn, your child needs to play. It has been scientifically proven that advancements in academic skills is directly related to the amount of creative play a child is allowed to do. Your child's memory, language skills, social skills, mechanical skills and problem solving skills are all dependent on how much time your child spends playing "pretend".

The sad thing is that today's parents put more focus on academic skills which has directly the opposite effect in creating intelligent children. By allowing your child to play make-believe, you are encouraging your child to develop the skills necessary to grow your child's brain power. You may not think that having your little one create a superman costume from a towel for a cape and a superman t-shirt is a learning experience, but the thought process that happens as he plans his play is the same process he will later need to plan a school science project.

Giving your toddler a ride on toy can spark their imagination to include all different scenarios and situations as well as develop motor skills. She can now drive to work, go on vacations and explore the world all within her imagination. Do not underestimate the knowledge she is gaining through creative play.

When you add in a sibling or play partner, the knowledge increases. Playing "pretend" with more than one player helps your child learn effective communication skills. He will have to explain why this playhouse is now a fire station and the ride on toy is a fire engine and how they will work together to put out a fire; and then why the playhouse is now a school and he is the teacher and his friend and toys are the students.

Playing pretend helps your children become effective negotiators, communicators and creative thinkers. Their memory develops through all of the planning and sequencing they do in their minds that directly relate to how they plan their activities.

A playhouse and a box of "dress-up" clothes can be the best educational toy you can ever give your child. Forget the electronic gadgets and "genius" toys. If you want to invest in your child's academic future, give them a playhouse and play kitchen. Your child will be head and shoulders ahead of the rest of the children who's parents are focusing on creating a genius.

Outdoor Play Equipment For Kids

Let's face it, with all the video games and toys kids have access to today, they just aren't getting outside under the sun. It is vital that kids get some natural sunlight on a regular basis, and this is why outdoor toys have been making a steady come-back - the demand is growing.

Outdoor play equipment like climbing frames and trampolines are not only a ton of fun, children are actually getting a workout from playing on it. These play sets improve the motor skills as well as muscle development and dexterity in our young ones.

If you plan to buy one of these big toys for your children, do make sure the play area as well as the equipment is safe to use. How do we do that? A start could be by doing some research on the particular toy or equipment you're after before doing your shopping.

Let's say you are after a trampoline for instance. You're probably going to set up the trampoline in your back garden where the ground might be uneven. This is very dangerous as uneven ground causes instability and the whole piece of equipment could easily topple over without much help from your kids. Most quality play equipment come with a decent manual that shows you how to set it up properly as well as safely, and what to do if you were to have a patch of uneven ground.

The next thing you can do before you install the play equipment, is check the ground for sharp or rusted objects that might easily pierce or cut children's feet. You can do this buy purchasing a cheap metal detector from your local electronics store.

If you're dealing with a trampoline, it is advisable to set it up in an area of ample space where there's at least a few meters of grass surrounding it. There should not be a fence or other hazardous equipment nearby where kids might spring off the trampoline and land on something that could get them seriously injured.

Ensure all large and especially, climbing toys are securely bolted down to the ground. If the play equipment is particularly large, you might need to pour cement into patches of garden soil in to give the bolts more grip.

The use of toys for children to promote healthy development

When buying toys for children and toys for children of a parent's first concern is usually the "play value" of an article is accurate, how many hours of fun, a child is derived from a new toy. Nobody wants to spend a lot of money to see the stereotype of a traditional toy and found the child playing with the box it came in! Another important factor is that most parents do not consider the benefits of a toy for the development of a child and haveGrowth.

Children develop in different ways, ie, cognitive (intellectual), motor (physical) and social (through interaction with others). An idea well thought out toy, can play as well as a lot of fun to help promote development in one or more of these areas. If so we visit the toy stores there are things to do and not do simple when we consider that all major purchases?

First of all, and rather controversial, iscan do pretty much the new wave of e-learning and computer-based educational toy toys in order to avoid the market. Studies have shown that these toys doing anything to stimulate the mental development of the child as a son of the spiritual possibilities in finding a single goal predetermined limit draw. Toys for a child's imagination and the ability to think "out of the box to limit "does little to promote learning, not as they develop new strategies or models of mental thought. As every parent knows a child's imagination without limits, and it is this ability to think differently than adults, a child to grow cognitively in an incredible speed allows. Through a game with a single fixed path and result, the child will never stop thinking about a problem.

Scientific studies have shown that traditional toys are most useful when it comes to food, the intellectual development, just because a child can use them in any number of ways. This allows aPlay house, something of a hospital to a control center business to the moon for the next space mission. And 'through such creative thinking that children are able to create what the child famous physiologist, Jean Piaget, "schemes", or new ways of thinking are called.

Toys for children are also trumps traditional when it comes to developing physical skills. A child's physical development can be divided into two broad categories, gross motor skills (the evolutionlarge muscles so that we can run, jump and carry) and motor skills (which allow us to manipulate things with our hands with great skill and dexterity). Have been for years a small traditional toys such as shape sorters and banks to help hammer and rod hand-eye coordination and development of small muscles and bicycles, tricycles and scooters have been in the development of size, strength and coordination structures of the brilliant large muscles big kids in the elderly.

FinallySounds simple toy can also be the answer when it comes to social development. Toys that encourage interaction and teamwork, empathy is a good chance that the ability of a child and develop with others. Imitation games are brilliant in this, that allows a child to try new situations in a safe environment and to work with other children in order to create more complex situations, make believe. They allow a child act in situations and to better understand the world aroundfeel safe and at the same time.

So the next time you go shopping for the note-killer Christmas or birthday gift for your child the following points.

1 The toy can be used in a number of different species?
2 A child can transform the purpose of the toy with their own ideas and ideas?
3 If the toy is fun, safe, robust and exciting?
The game offers 4 different activities, so it can grow with your child?
5The toy allows social interaction with other children?
6 Will this game even more popular, with a child in a year or just a fashion marketing?

Remember that despite all the marketing expensive glossy ads do not offer eye-catching packaging and the latest robot dinosaur to a child anywhere near the same level of development opportunities that simply pulling the dog wood. Whatmore long gone after the robo-dino batteries, has spotted a good old doggo for "walkies".

Using Pretend Play Toys to Develop Confidence in Kids

It's very important for a kid to develop his confidence early in life. You should know this as a parent and of course, you have to do something to make sure that this is achieved. A shy kid will have a hard time in life and this is especially true once he starts going to school. He won't be interacting with other kids and that can stunt his mental growth. He also won't interact with his teachers and that's not good for him. Once he grows up, he'll get picked on because he's the "shy kid". The worst part about this is he'll take that trait to adulthood because it's not something that you can easily change later on in life.

This is why you have to make sure that he develops his confidence early in life. This is to make sure that he'll start life with the confidence that he needs to be successful as an older kid and as an adult. You can do this with the help of pretend play toys. They simulate real-life situations so that your kid will be ready for them.

They're also perfect to help your kid develop his social skills. Let's take play tents and playhouses for example. These are toys that encourage kids to play as a group. Once your kid starts to learn that it's a good idea to mingle with other kids, he'll open up and make friends. After all, he'll find out that having friends to play with is fun. He'll have friends early on in life and that will develop his social skills which are very important once he starts going to school. He won't have any troubles making any friends.

There are also pretend play toys that encourage kids to perform in front of a group of people. A puppet theater is the perfect example. Dramatic costumes are also great so he can play pretend play scenarios. He'll have a great time performing in front of an audience and once you start clapping you hearts out, that will be a good confidence-builder.

Check out pretend play toys today and build your kid's confidence. He'll be able to use it once he grows up and that can make him a better person.

Did you know that old models of pedal cars in good condition sell for as much as $2,000 on the market? This is not to say that you should sell for the money but pedal cars are an investment, too.

Trip Down Memory Lane

Pedal cars take you down memory lane. They are nostalgic reminders of younger, happier, more carefree times when you can put the top down, go on full speed, savor the wind on your hair and imagine that you are across the country when all you really crossed was the neighborhood street.

Legacy for Generations

With proper care and storage, you can witness the joy of riding pedal cars from yourself to your grandkids. In a sense, you have preserved a legacy of enjoyment and fun.

The Funhouse itself contains the two main hubs comprising kitchen and bathroom and the bedroom, so the variety of rooms, together with the connecting tunnel really does allow your kids to test the interactive nature of their hamsters out to a greater extent and it gives them a varied and large enough area to show off their scurrying skills.

In second position is the Zhu Zhu hamster Adventure Ball. This is a favorite among both parents and kids alike. Kids love the Adventure ball for the fun factor in seeing their hamster scurrying around inside whilst making their favorite hamster sounds and moves. Parents perhaps relate to the fact that the ball is a common accessory that is used for real hamsters. Whatever the reason, like real hamsters, your hamster will come alive when they climb into this ball and provide hours of rolling fun for the kids.

The third spot is taken by the Zhu Zhu hamster wheel. Again, perhaps the high positioning of this item has something to do with a lot of parents buying it for their children, and when it comes to hamsters, whether that be a real or a pet toy, the traditional hamster exercise wheel is an all round winner. Like the Adventure Ball, the hamster climbs aboard the wheel for a bout of fast paced scurrying exercise and kids literally find it hysterical, particularly with the great ensemble of noises that the hamster makes during their routine.

All three of these Zhu Zhu Pets toy hamster accessories are winners by both parents and children, so if you are stuck on which one to add to your kid's hamster fun, you can't go far wrong with any or all of these.

Second, wood playhouses will provide your children with something unique and special. Most people go with the mass-produced plastic play houses, or resin. Only a small percentage of the buyers are ready, the commitment of time and money needed to build a high quality alternative to wood one. Your child will enjoy, no doubt with a very special and will be a big kick out of realism that only a wooden model is possible.

Disadvantages of wooden outdoor play houses

The option of wood has its negatives too.

First, they cost more than the alternatives. You can avoid some of thecost by purchasing a do-it-yourself kit, but then you will need to consider the value of your time. No matter how you cut, hammer, screw or glue it, outdoor wooden playhouses are more expensive than the options you will find on display at the local toy store.

Second, outdoor wooden playhouses require more upkeep. They are harder to clean than plastic or resin units are and they do not hold up to the elements as well, either. If you decide to go with wood, you need to realize that you will be doing regular repairs and maintenance to keep it going strong. These are not "build it and forget it" options.

Third, outdoor units become a part of the landscape in a way that other options do not. If you move or sell your home, the wooden playhouse probably will not be coming with you. Even if the unit does not have an actual foundation, it is probably built using wooden supports that have been sunk in the ground and cemented in place.

Those are just a few of the pros and cons associated with outdoor wooden playhouses. Considering them should give you a good idea of whether you are interested in going with wood or if you and your children might be happier with a cheaper alternative.

Is Your Family's Kids Playhouse Furniture Really Totally Safe For Your Little Ones?

Decorating a kids playhouse can be an exciting, enjoyable time for you and your child. It affords you the opportunity to bond while trying to create a play space that will be his or her own little castle. One of the most fun aspects of decorating is selecting furniture. The pieces that you and your child pick will determine the type of look and feel for the playhouse. That' important. But what's more important is that whatever furniture that you select is safe!

Here are a few things to look out for when furnishing your kids playhouse, so that you avoid introducing furniture that is cute, but not safe:

1. Antique toys, vintage baby bassinets for doll babies, or any old items that are painted with lead based paint should never be added to a kids playhouse. Lead poisoning is a very real hazard that people often overlook. While it may seem harmless enough, the reality is that the paint can chip off and could potentially be inhaled or ingested by your little one inadvertently.

2. Furniture that has not been properly cleaned should never be introduced into a kids outdoor playhouse. You may find a really nice chair or love seat that would work wonders to bring together the look of your child's playhouse. It could be super cheap also! However, before you put it in that playhouse, take the extra step and spend the money to have it cleaned and sanitized. Lots of germs can live in fabric and cushions. By not cleaning it you could potentially expose your child to ringworm, animal dander, and other disgusting vermin that live in used furniture. Used furniture is great for an outdoor playhouse, but only if it's totally clean and safe!

3. Sharp, pointy tables and objects should never be included in an outdoor playhouse decor. Opt for tables or free-standing furniture that has rounded edges. Children can be clumsy and they fall often. Your child has a great chance of getting hurt if he or she falls onto the pointed corner of a table, which could not only cause a bump but could possibly pierce the eye or mouth. No parent would want their child to go through that, so it's best to select furniture that is rounded and, of course, ultra-safe.

A kids playhouse can be absolutely gorgeous when furnished with the right pieces. If you are really concerned about using adult or higher end pieces that has the potential to pose a risk, then select baby wooden or plastic size and age appropriate furniture for the home game. The choice is yours, but the decision should be sure to always be the highest priority.

Outdoor Toys For Exercise

It seems like almost every week we hear about how our children are overweight and do not get enough exercise. The media paints a picture of children sitting at home every day, watching TV and playing video games. This child never goes outside to play, but stays cooped up in the house, moving very little. If this sounds like your child, remember that children often need encouragement to get out of the house and play. Encourage them by providing toys that will entice them to play outdoors. Outdoor toys are a great way for kids to get the fresh air and exercise they need, while at the same time having fun away from their sedentary indoor activities.

It is the parents' job to get young children the exercise they need. Unlike adults, children are not often interested in many forms of exercise that don't involve play, like running, lifting weights, or doing aerobics. How to you get children the exercise they need, then? Outdoor toys can provide the motivation to get your child off the couch. While they play with these toys, they will be getting lots of exercise without even realizing it.

For your child, outdoor toys can be a great option to get them off the couch and doing exercise. Anything from bikes and pedal cars to pogo sticks, jump ropes, swing sets and trampolines can get your child's heart racing. Jumping, pedaling, and other forms of outdoor exercise are a great way to get your child moving and having fun. Outdoor toys will motivate your child to exercise in a fun way. Plus, of course, fresh air is great for everyone. These outdoor toys will help develop your child's muscles as well as their creativity and motor skills.

If you want your child to be more active, consider outdoor toys. You'll have fun watching your child have a lot of fun while getting some healthy exercise. Do your child a favor and buy fun toys like pedal cars, bicycles, pogo sticks, and trampolines so that they will get the exercise they need.

Classic outdoor toys are a great solution if your child needs to get more exercise. Even for those children who get plenty of exercise already, outdoor toys are a fun way to further aid in their development. Investing in a few classic toys to be used outdoors is a great way to get your children excited about playing and exercising outside.

When you think about today's most popular toys, those that first come to mind are electronic gadgets and video games. Classic outdoor toys, however, make a great choice for getting your child off the couch and getting some fresh air and healthy exercise. If you only give your child indoor toys that do not promote outdoor exercise, your child will be missing out on a lot of fun. These outdoor toys are a much better choice than computer games or other toys that will let your child be sedentary all day long. There is no substitute for getting your child outdoors to burn off some energy and stay fit while having fun.

Fun Playhouses for Children

All children need a special place that's completely theirs, where they can shut out the world of grownups and retreat to their own private sanctuary. Playhouses for children provide a hideaway as well as a stage where they can act out their imaginings.

They can take their favorite toys with them and pretend to be kings, queens, soldiers, or perhaps the Mommy or Daddy of a special family. Fun playhouses allow children to develop their skills and test their limits without an adult's critical presence.

Buying Toys for Toddlers

One way in which to help your toddler develop their skills is to buy toys that will engage and excite them. This guide offers useful advice to parents looking to buy toddler toys.

How to select toys for your toddler?

At this time of their life your child is just barely discovering the world in which they live in and their abilities, such as climbing, running and jumping. There is no doubt that choosing a toy that stimulates and satisfies your toddler can be a real challenge. Therefore it is important that you always make sure that you have their own interests and needs in mind, as well as know what skills they need to develop as he or she grows up.

What values does a toy need to offer a toddler?

- Stimulus (sensory - e.g. sounds, smell, sight, touch, etc)
- An outlet for their creativity
- Freedom
- Supervision
- Companionship
- Challenges

What type of toys should I buy for my toddler?

As toddlers in particular become restless very quickly they need a significant amount of supervision and interaction. Therefore, several factors must be considered before making your decision. The following information highlights the type of toys you should buy depending on your child's age.

1 year - 1.5 years old: - On average most babies start to begin to walk when they are one year old. This new found ability will make them very eager to explore their new surroundings, therefore resulting in development of their leg muscles as well their motor skills.

Recommended toys: stuffed animals, building blocks, swing sets, ride-ons and simple musical instruments.

1.5 years - 2 years old: - After the preliminary stage of being able to walk the child begin to develop their imagination and their interest to solve problems, such as being able to match up objects by specific criteria (colour, shape or size). This period of growth also sees them speaking and learning an astounding number of new words.

Recommended toys: puppets, dolls, playhouses, balloons, puzzles, costumes, storybooks and climbing structures.

2 years - 3years old: - During this phase of growth the child likes to imitate grown-ups, develop coordination and control as well express their views.

Recommended toys: tricycles, blackboard and chalk, crayons, modelling dough, stuffed animals and water toys.

Indoor Playhouse Structures-Theme Beds - Custom Playhouses Makes the Perfect Escape For Kid

These days a kid's bed need not be just a bed. With a little creativity and ingenuity, you can turn an ordinary bed into an awe-inspiring indoor play space in even the smallest of children's bedrooms.

Whether it's because of inclement weather, the hour of the day, the lack of available adult supervision or any number of other reasons, letting your kids play outside is not always a viable option. But without suitable and appropriate play space in the house, it can often become next to impossible to allow the type of play your children need and enjoy indoors either.

But now you can replace your child's bulky and utilitarian bed with a custom theme bed that doubles as an indoor playhouse structure. Of course the key word here for you as a parent is "structure", and to qualify as a suitable play space a custom theme bed must be first and foremost structurally sound.

Fortunately designers and builders of kid's beds are now using sturdy, durable, and reliable building materials to invent two-story structures that can safely support the weight of multiple children at once. Some custom theme beds used also as indoor playhouses even have climbing walls, ladders, and sliding ponds built into the structure, making for endless hours of play.

A second-story loft above the sleeping area in a custom theme bed makes an excellent space for abundant imaginative play. Or alternately, you could make the loft the sleeping area and keep the area underneath open for play. Shelves, dresser drawers, and toy boxes can be incorporated into the design so that as much of the available space as possible is left open for your active child and his or her friends to enjoy.

Custom playhouse beds designed around a theme doubly serve parents' and children's needs alike by helping immerse children in their make-believe environments. That's why custom theme beds make the best indoor play structures. Think about all the adventures boys and girls alike would have in a custom castle bed for example - with visions of princesses and knights in shining armor, battles and rescues, feasts and fancy balls all dancing in their heads. Or think of the fun that kids can have imagining the sand and surf of a beach themed bed or underwater themed bed - building castles and hunting for buried treasure.

What better way to safely tire your little ones out and easily tuck them in for a good night's sleep than by having their bed also be their favorite play area?

Toys For Active Toddlers

Toddlers can be an active bunch so finding toys that allow them to burn off all that energy is a top priority for many parents. While there are a lot of toys that encourage toddlers to run, climb, jump, and burn off energy in many ways, here are a few of my personal favorites for my toddler:

Toddler Scooter - A toddler sized scooter is great for not only burning energy but also helps build their coordination skills. There are a many toddler scooters on the market including many featuring beloved favorite cartoon characters like Thomas the Tank Engine, Dora the Explorer, and the Disney Princesses. Razor also makes a Jr. version of their scooter that is great for toddlers and Radio Flyer has it's own tot sized scooter called the My First Scooter which is available in red or pink.

Toddler Climbers - A toddler climber offers lots of active fun for little ones. The thing I love most about toddler climbers is that most of them are light and portable enough that you can easily use them inside or out for you little ones. Drag it in the house for rainy days and winter and keep in in the backyard or on the patio when the weather is nice. There are several toddler climbers to choose from in a variety of prices. You can get everything from a simple one with a slide as the focal point to a deluxe version that includes a playhouse.

Push Toys - Push toys are always a hit with toddlers and provide a great way to show off their newly acquired walking skills. A few of the more popular push toy options for toddlers are toy shopping carts, toy lawn mowers, and toy vacuum cleaners. All of these toys allow them to have fun pretending and imitating things that mom and dad do every day. Great for not only burning off all that energy but also for encouraging imaginative play.

There are plenty of other toddler toys that are good for active little ones but these are certainly some of the top and tried and true favorites at our house.

How To Buy Your Child A Playhouse?

Imagination is a beautiful thing and it's moulded society over millennia to change and create. Where does this imagination come from though? Play. The most constructive way of learning when you are young and what we learn during those moments of imaginative play stays with us the rest of our lives. That's why it's important to make sure that we are encouraging our children to play, learn and develop. The most popular tool to do this in most households is the Playhouse. Playhouses have developed over the years and generally you can buy a decent playhouse for your children at a reasonable price. However as with all things, most products today are not built to last and getting value for money is rare. That's why we've put together a little guide on the best way to buy playhouses for your family. The points below are what we think are important when you are looking at purchasing a playhouse.

1. Safety

2. Size

3. Longevity

4. Features

5. Play Value

6. Appearance

7. Price

Safety - Safety is always at the top of the list for any parent and so it should be. The latest trends in manufacturing mean that everything we buy today is mostly from China etc. Always keep an eye out for the EN71 standard on products, this means that it has been built to European safety regulations and that means that the product is fit for use.

Besides looking for the obvious such as safety standard certification and the like, have a look at the general build quality of the product. Even novice DIY fanatics will be able to spot a bad build quality product, our advice at this point is to walk away. If it looks poor to start with it will generally be poor, that's our general rule of thumb.

Size - Size of course is a very important factor in a some ways. Not only does it need to be the right size to fit into your garden but depending on the size of your family it needs to fit the needs of the children.

Longevity - More than likely you would like your children to make the most of their new playhouse. Ideally then you would look at getting something large enough to last a few years. A good idea is to buy a modular playhouse, there aren't many on the market but they are there. That way as the children grow you can buy the next upgrade and so the playhouse life extends.

Features - Features are key to any product and the playhouses are no exception. There are a number of playhouses on the market that are pretty dull, but for not much more or in some cases the same price you could pick up a playhouse which is loaded with features.

Play Value - As stated in earlier points play value is essential not only to your budget, but to the development of your child as well. There are a number of playhouses on the market that have more than one activity to offer and these are preferable as they stimulate the imagination and promote growth. Look out for what features where incorporated into the design at the time and what aspects of play where planned into the layout.

Appearance - Appearance is critical, this is not necessarily for the children's well-being, but rather the parents. The appearance of the playhouse greatly influences how long that playhouse will be in the garden for as like the rest of us we want our homes to look smart and not necessarily fill of gaudy child's toys.

Price - This will come as a surprise coming from a retailer, but haggle on the price. Get the playhouse that you dreamed of having for your child. You will be surprised what the sales can come up with if you just give them a call and explain your needs. Take the time and ask for what you need.

Children's Outdoor Playhouses Bring Adventures to Life

A secret clubhouse accessible to only a select few members. A pirate ship sailing through the deepest oceans. A magic palace with thousands of elaborately furnished rooms. A headquarters for a league of high-tech super heroes. Children's outdoor playhouses easily make all of these wonderful adventures come to life. Kids are thrilled to have the opportunity to fire up their imagination, and what better setting than a playhouse that provides them with their own private world.

With children's outdoor playhouses you are able to add fun and excitement to your back yard that will delight your kids. Instead of giving them a toy that they will soon tire of, or outgrow, you can choose to present them with an ongoing adventure that will last for years. In fact one of the greatest features of playhouses is their incredible versatility. These outdoor structures provide more adventurous playing opportunities than any amusement park.

Think back to when you were a child and you will remember how important it was to have a place that was really your own. You may not have had one of those outdoor playhouses, but you and your friends created some type of place that was just for kids to enjoy.

Maybe your playhouse was nothing more than an old sheet tossed across an outdoor clothes line. It may even have been constructed from cardboard boxes and old blankets; but to your eyes it was the greatest clubhouse, or playhouse, in the world. In some instances you and your friends may have built a rickety playhouse from scrap lumber that was always teetering on the brink of collapse. You may not remember all of the details, but one thing is certain; you never forgot the wonderful fun!

Children need to have the opportunity to feel that they are becoming more independent and children's outdoor playhouses can foster this feeling. These playhouses give kids a place where they can be in charge and let their young imaginations rule the world. Instead of dreaming about big adventures your children will actually be able to create and live them.

You can choose from a wide variety of children's outdoor playhouses that are designed for endless hours of imaginative fun. The choice of style, colors and accessories allow you to select a tailored playhouse that is the perfect outdoor setting for your kids and their friends to enjoy for hours at a time.

Perhaps you prefer one of the simpler playhouse styles, constructed to resemble a small home. You can find many of these mini-home designs with windows, a roof, doors, and window-boxes. Some have multiple interior rooms and you can even have the exterior painted to match your family home. These single level playhouses can be set on a solid foundation, or on a level section of ground, where they will provide an instant outdoor retreat for kids of almost any age.

There are other children's outdoor playhouses that have a more elaborate design. You can find a playhouse that is part of a large outdoor unit. It may even include slides, swings, a sandbox and rope ladders. These playhouse structures are constructed of solid wood, and other sturdy materials to provide your kids with a safe environment that will last for years.

Important points to consider when building a house for children

Most parents have problems in how to make their children in the right order with their playing area. It is very important that your children have their designated place where they can make their get ups and play their stuff without disturbing people in the house.

To build a good area for your child may mean the next years of your child. You should carefully outline the elements of your playhouse to ensure that you are getting the right things without breaking any future activity that may happen. Here are some practical tips that you may use to get the best of your playhouse:

1. Decide first where to put your playhouse. It is a big thing that you know well what you are planning to avoid any waste of money in the future. You may have a space in the backyard or you may add another room inside the house that will serve as the playhouse.
2. Have the materials ready. It is a big thing that you have the complete things that you will need to build the playhouse. You can easily start to make the foundation and the pillars of the playhouse if you have the complete set. From the foundation, you can now easily draw the materials to be added to the house frame that you have made.

You may ask other people to help you in building one if you do not know how to make the simple carpentry. Or you may do it by yourself and ask your child to help in making the place. You can use any other help if you want.

3. Add designs. It is very important that you know the items that you should add to the playhouse. You need to make the playhouse active and captivating to catch the attention of your child. It is a big thing that you make special plans on how to do it. Light colors will make the place great for your child but be sure that the motif you will be using will correspond to the child.

As you determine for the items you may add consider the following:

1. Think about the mind make up of the child. You need to consider that you will be putting items in the place that will help your child to learn. You can put some drawings and chars at the sides where your child can see it. You can also add more puzzles items that may serve as your training ground for the child.

2. Then activity of the child. You should consider the child's desire; if the child wants to play basketball in the place, you can add a basket in there. It is very important that you know what your child wants so that you will know the action you will be taking to support the child in the given field. Never pressure the child.

The playhouse of the child will mean a big thing to the making of the child's future; always make sure that you are making it.

Plush Toys - A Short History

Who doesn't know what plush toys are? They are lovable toys that have been around since we were kids. But only a few people know how it all started. We just know that they are cute, cuddly toys that we've loved ever since.

Although obvious, not a lot of people know that taxidermy was the inspiration of the modern plush toys. Taxidermy is the practice of stuffing animals. The skin of the hunted animal is preserved and then stuffed to serve as a display or for further studies. Thankfully, the process evolved to using cloth or plush instead of animal skin. While using animal skin would make unique stuffed toys, it's certainly not hygienic and animal friendly.

The grandfather of these lovable toys is the Teddy Bear. It was the Steiff Company who thought of making them to be sold to the public back in 1880. The idea was said to be inspired by President Theodore Roosevelt. Some say that during a hunting trip, President Roosevelt refused to shoot a bear cub. A cartoon shows the case in which the imagination of the public. The company took advantage of the Steiff Teddy Bear and became a phenomenon.

During the bear is still (or embrace) as one of the most popular games, we have developed a nice toy that we know today. It is a stuffed animal because of the material used. For the upper is plush in place of normal tissue ortextile. Plush for this purpose evolved as well. Earlier stuffed toys had plush made of mohair or worsted yarn. It was changed to silk and now, polyester is more commonly used.

The cute cuddly toys that we know today vary in design. The design ranges from animals, humans, and even creatures. Even the way we buy changed. Before, we had to resort to toy manufacturers that we don't really want because the price is too high and the design too limited. Nowadays, more and more enterprising individuals recognize the opportunity in making these lovable toys. They take their unique plush toy ideas and turn them into bestsellers. How can they go wrong? A toy that traces its roots for more than 100 years can only be described as something that everyone loves.

So do you have an idea for unique plush toys? If not, do you want to be a part of history by making your own cute plush toy? Fortunately, you don't have to resort to hunting so you can get their skin in order to make stuffed toys. All you need is an idea and you can make it happen.

Playhouse Plans - How Much Fun Could Your Kids Have With This Easy Woodworking Project?

Do you have plans for a playhouse in your yard?

Today, even from a young age, children are subjected to all the latest crazes, many of which mean they spend more time in doors, how would you like it if they wanted to spend more time outdoors?

Remember when you were young, games consoles weren't even invented (well they weren't when I was a child), children played all sorts of games outdoors, they used their imagination to conjure up all manner of exciting things to do.

A playhouse in one form or another could be anything from a hideaway, somewhere to play cowboys and Indians, have a tea party for little friends, it could become the cockpit of an airplane, an imaginary car, a truck, a fire engine or spaceship. Somewhere just to play house and do all the things they watch you do in your house.

Children love places to crawl in and out of, they love their own space, a playhouse can be so many things, things we have forgotten about as our imagination may not be as active as it once was.

How would you like to wake up your imagination by letting your children or grandchildren tell you about how much fun they had today in their playhouse and exactly what it had become. If you tell your children the playhouse is a magic place, that it can transform into whatever they want it to be, you will be amazed with the things they dream up.

I know children sometimes get more fun out of the box that something came in than with whatever was in the box, so they don't need a playhouse to be particularly fancy, it just needs to be safe.

Playhouses don't need to be expensive either, with plans for a playhouse, a few basic tools, some timber and fixings from the local hardware store you can make your own. And you will have as much fun building it as your children will playing in it.

What's more you can get your children to help you build it, now wouldn't that be so much fun for all of you?

How to Make a Wooden Train - A Quick Overview For Novices

Trains are loved by children and adults all over the world. They never seem to go out of style. The train has made its way off the tracks and into our jewelry, our toys, and our lives. There are cartoon characters that are trains and there are books about living and talking trains. It may be the distinctive sounds that the train makes or the classic beauty of the older style, coal burning trains, but something about them has made them classics to have as toys and as decorations around the house. Some train sets even sell for thousands of dollars.

Wooden trains bring together the classic beauty of trains and combine it with the eloquence of wood. These trains tend to be bigger than the track models that various companies have made over the years. These trains are no less valuable or beautiful though. They can be both played with or kept as heirloom decorations. No matter what the intended use of the wooden train set is, the result will be a treasured work of art.

The most common style for a wooden train set it is the old style coal burning trains. The complexity of the trains depends greatly upon the function of the train. If the train is meant to be a piece of decoration, spending more time on the small details like the areas at the chimney of the train and the edging around the train is a good idea. If the train is destined to be a toy, these details can be over looked.

The standard idea for the train is to take a Cylinder block and attach a square block at the end of the cylinder. This provides the engine and site engineering. A fireplace is usually referred to as a second cylinder, the cylinder and the first to go close. This is usually through a hole for the second cylinder into the cylinder first and then made the inclusion cylinder and glued in place. Again, the complexity of the information will be individualized. This is a brief description. All this can thenbe set on a second square block and wheels can be added to the train. A hook or eye can be attached to the back of the engine to allow one to attach the next car.

Most train cars are simple squares. The squares can be hollowed out or can be very shallow to allow for railings or such and the transport of different items. Each of these cars should have a hook on one side and an eye on the other to allow them to be attached to the other cars. Be sure to get the hooks and eyes lined up properly other wise the cars will not fit properly.

Painting of the train set can be done in a variety of manners. One can either paint each individual piece separately before assembling or one can paint the train once it is assembled. Another idea for the wooden train is to simply varnish the train to maintain the woods integrity while keeping it looking like wood. No matter how one decides to paint or decorate the train, it will be one of those beautiful works of wood crafting that will be appreciated for years to come.

Squinkies Playhouse Surprise Gumball

With Squinkies Gumball Surprise Playhouse you can now bring the fun and captivation of those gumball machines that kids love to your home. The sight of gumball machines in the mall or other places can perk up any kid and personally they take me back to my own childhood days. Now you can bring your own gumball machine home with Squinkies Surprise Playhouse.

It is easy to see why the entire line from Squinkies is already a bestseller and by my estimations they will be flying off the shelves long before the holidays.

Due to the small parts this set is only recommended for children four years and over so be careful if you have younger ones in the home.

Here is what I love about the Gumball Surprise Playhouse:
This can turn out to be quite a collection. In addition to the Squinkies Gumball Surprise Playhouse you will want to get the Cupcake Surprise Playhouse and the Palace Surprise too.
Kids of any age will enjoy them. They will especially love the Squinkies and want to collect the various bubble packs too.
There are multiple ways to enjoy this toy so kids will no doubt get hours of fun out of it. They can dispense the Squinkies using coins from the Gumball machine, they can open the sides and just play house or have fun with just the Squinkies.
The Squinkies come in their individual bubbles that you can open and take them out of and just enjoy their squishy softness and once you're you put it back in their bubbles and into the machine.
Additional bubble packs can be purchased separately to increase the fun. Each pack is Squinkies sixteen.
Squinkies are just right, so price-conscious parents like to give this gift that every child is happy to unpack prices.

Cons:
There is little that can be said to her toys. The only problem is that I'm afraid that before the holiday season begins this gemnowhere to be found. As it is, they just do not last on the shelves at popular toy stores and even online there is very limited stock available.
The only other con that I can think of is that once you get started with Squinkies you won't want to stop collecting them. There are quite a few series available soothe cost of collecting them all will add up.

All in all, Squinkies Gumball Surprise and the entire line of Squinkies Toys makes my list of hot toys for 2010.

Safe and Appropriate Educational Toys for Infants

There are times when you find it difficult to find toys for your infants. You have no idea which toys are the perfect ones for them. There is actually one fact about this matter. Your baby is learning at a great speed, taking in everything that is around, and picking up habits, information and words.

You must be involved in your baby's learning process and provide more opportunities for them. Therefore, you need to understand how and to what extent infants perceive the objects that surround them:

o Sight

o Visual range

o Touch

o Sound

o Motion

It always helps to keep in mind that you do not need fancy and expensive toys to stimulate your infant. You might bring home a very trendy toy for your baby only to find that baby finds the packaging far more interesting. Your young child just needs stimulation and a way to express their creativity, and this can be done with homemade toys as well.

The following are some tips for using common objects lying around the house to excite and engage your baby:

o Magazines: Under supervision, let your baby flip through a magazine and enjoy the colors.

o Sock puppets: On a sock, embroider eyes and a nose and tell your baby stories about the puppet. (Avoid using buttons for eyes or nose, as they are choking hazards.)

o Laundry baskets: Babies love sitting in laundry baskets. If the basket is tall enough and your baby can sit up on his own, let them have a good time inside while you gently rock them.

o Containers: Used (clean) containers, non-toxic and colorful cups make great toys for babies to keep things in or simply as teethers!

o Cardboard boxes: These are favorites of growing babies. Boxes are simple and safe and provide great opportunity for creativity. Your baby can make the box into a playhouse and color it with non-toxic crayons to make it beautiful and personal.

Always make sure that the toy is safe and clean, free of loose parts and sharp edges. Supervise and participate in your baby's play and watch your little one grow!

Classify and Identify

Always keep in mind that the toys should be unbreakable, free of small pieces and sharp edges, and non-toxic. Be vigilant and inspect toys for possible dangers. However, toys are often packaged in such a way that it is hard to identify potential safety hazards. In such cases, it is imperative that you categorize the toy under a broader category (plastic, electric, non-toxic, etc) and thus avoid inappropriate purchases:

o Electric toys should be avoided entirely.

o Plastic wrappings should be easily and entirely removable.

o Toys with choke-hazard warnings should be avoided for infants.

o Toys that do not contain age recommendations are inappropriate.

o Balls or marbles smaller than 1.75 inches are choke hazards.

o Strings, cords and necklaces can strangle little children. Make sure that such toys are less than 12" in length.

o Projectile toys can be missiles of self-injury.

o If there is something you are not sure of, such as the toy's durability, material or use, be on the safe side and avoid buying it.

Here are some examples of safe and appropriate toys:

o Squeak toys: These toys are big enough to rule out choke-accidents. Squeak toys with molded-in noisemakers occupy all your child's senses.

o Rattles: Make sure that these have large ends. Also, remember that infants have a preference for high-pitched sounds, as infants like noise making toys.

o Stuffed dolls and animals: Washable dolls with embroidery and bright colors are safe and fun and develop your infant's imagination.

o Mobiles: Crib mobiles and other 'hanging' toys with sound and movement are great toys for your newborn. Make sure that the string of the toy is less than 12" in length.

o Cups: Unbreakable colorful cups and other smooth objects are safe and fun for little kids.

o Balls: Rubber balls with textured surfaces excite and involve infants greatly.

o Music: Music making toys.

o Books: Simple picture book and books with rhymes noise making toys.

It is important to always keep in mind that the toys are unbreakable and non-toxic. Also, remember that choosing safe toys for infants is crucial, but it is not a substitute for adult supervision and involvement.
